untitled 124 (for my neighbors across broadway whom i will never meet)
the curtains are open
I’m sleeping tonight
with across the street lights
keeping me up
because I feel lonely
and loneliness aches
but when I awake
you’ll be in my room
the curtains are open
I’m inviting you in
to sleep in my bed
by your yellow lamp light
and sing me with traffic
to tuck me all warm
we’ll laugh at the shadows
until we’re all gone
the curtains are open
my arms are spread wide
my knees are tucked up
come lay by my side
